My Life According to Mary

I have a very serious life. Work – serious management position dealing with all sorts of mind-numbing management issues as well, fortunately, as a few creative ones. Parenting – can be fun, but must be grown-up, which I’ve been for a long, long time. But, on the side, I’ve begun to entertain myself with this other world – my world according to Mary Richards. No matter what happens in my life, I can always recall something pertinent that Mary Richards or Lou Grant said, some similar situation for Rhoda or Phyllis, or laugh at some joke Ted or Murray made that somehow pops into my mind as I begin to free associate. You may have your favorite tv show and tv characters, events, and homolies that help you, but for me, it’s the Mary Tyler Moore show.

Now, I’m no stalker. Mary Tyler Moore, the actress, doesn’t interest me at all. I am into the fictional world of Mary Richards.

I hear the music and my blood pressure goes way down. My whole body relaxes. I don’t even have to watch it – I just need to know it’s there. How geeky is that!
